For our first public screening, the National Gallery of Art celebrated the Restoration & Preservation of "James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket"
by hosting a free screening + discussion, in their West Building Lecture Hall.
The standing room-only crowd watched the glorious new 2K digital version
of the film ... and heard a discussion by the filmmakers, on the restoration process ... and a discussion by Baldwin family members, on the lasting relevance of James Baldwin. - New York City ~ November 12, 2014
The digital restoration of "James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket," from the original 16mm negative ... was completed at Goldcrest Films, in New York City, under the supervision of Tim Spitzer. The New York City Premiere was held at The New School on lower Fifth Avenue in New York, in the John L. Tishman Auditorium.
In attendance were Baldwin family members Helen Brodie Baldwin and Trevor Baldwin, various original film crew members. THe event, including the screening, a panel discussion and audience talkback, was presented & hosted by the late Michelle Materre, Curator of the Creatively Speaking Film Series at the New School. - . . . . . . .
